Silicon Alley. That’s one of the things that makes New York more attractive. Silicon Alley is in a hot spot now. Conversations and future ideas are happening here, encompassing media, entertainment, technology, and financing. Manhattan has a unique advantage to foster all these future thoughts that could create the Next Google since this small island has an instant access to everything this kind of digital media/internet business needs.
If you want to find out what is going to be the next hot internet business, then you should go to and check out “NY Tech Meetup.” Its monthly meeting introduces up and coming tech companies presenting their ideas and new businesses at its new venue.
Its new venue is located in the IAC/InteractiveCorp building, a fantastic new building designed by Frank Gehry. When you enter the building, a unique looking wooden chair and a big computer screen wall that displays changing computer images will greet your triumphant entrance. Participants at NY Tech Meetup are presenting their websites on the screen wall. Trust me. It looks really cool. (Warning!! Do not touch sensitive building windows on the opposite side, though. Otherwise, you will be yelled at loud^^)
Well, I’ve been attending NY Tech Meetup for more than a year now. Every time, I get to peek over numerous techy heads. Sometimes, we are awed by brilliant ideas or sometimes we laugh at silly ideas. I still haven’t seen the next billion dollar company yet in that event. A web developer who happened to sit next to me at the last January event, whispered to me that he thinks that many of the companies presented at event will be doomed to fail. I agree. So many good ideas do not have good business potential and so many of them are just focusing on a very small scale service, which would be hard to promote for popularity.
But I’m sure something is out there. I wonder what’s coming. There might be some brilliant people working in their tiny manhattan apartments, dreaming big to create the next Google. Hey, Alley. What’s going on? Show me the Next Big Thing!!!!

I have found that if you just work hard and are consistent you can go places . Look at the author of this article, they are clearly a hard worker and have just been consistent over time and are now enjoying at least what would appear as somewhat of a success. I like the page layout and colors, but I have to mention that I’m having trouble when it loads. I’m using ELinks 0.10 web browser for mac, and the top panel fails to line up fully. i’m confident I’ve made use of a similar layout on a client’s online site, but the menu seems alright on mine. I suspect the problem is with my browser and just maybe it is time to change!
