Creativity Matters: “405 The Movie”

It’s an old story. Back in 2001, there were two guys who decided to make an amazing 3 minute web video, sitting down on their computer without any million dollar budget, except their sweat equity and creativity. The two guys were Bruce Branit and Jeremy Hunt. They were quite successful in making interesting and believable visuals. They spent about 3 months, working on this video, using their night hours and weekends. A lot of the visuals had been created with computer graphics. It’s amazing to see how creative two people can be with their spare time.

Rumor says that George Lucas loved this short film on the net and picked up these two guys as his team members. I don’t know if it’s true, but I’m pretty sure that these two guys would not have suffered from any ‘without a job’ syndrome after making this movie.

People are talking about severe recession and the economy looking bad… But would the downtime be the same with the Great Depression of the 1930’s? Are you sure that young creative guys like these would not be able to make a living during that period, even with their creativity? I don’t know. If you are creative enough, it’s much easier nowadays to find venues on the net to attract enough eyeballs for ad revenues or a subsequent career boost, do you think whether you are employed or not would really matter to your ability to make a living during the recession? I don’t know the answer, either. But I can say this: ‘Creativity Matters!”
