Do You Believe in “Destiny”?

Last night, Ray Beckerman, a copyright lawyer (known for his involvement with RIAA law suits), sent me a short message.

“This email — from 6 months ago — just came through now. (?!)”

He just got an email from me that I sent 6 months ago. At that time, he didn’t receive my email, so our lunch meeting was sort of mismatched back then.

Reflecting back on my life in New York, much stranger things have happened to me. Very strange coincidences with certain people, very strange events that have caused great misunderstandings or great findings, and amazingly timely encounters, etc.

Sometimes, I feel like our lives are intertwined with each other by unforeseen forces, which pull us into different directions or create unexpected separations and encounters.

Tonight, I think about “Destiny.”

If somebody should give a name to those unforeseen forces that are somehow shaping our lives, I would point them to this one word “Destiny.”

When I think about all the things that happened to me (how I end up in NY, who I met in NY, what kind of things that happened to me in NY, even what were my early childhood aspirations and fantasies), there are many things that cannot be explained with simple and tangible terms. Some people would say it’s Karma. Some would say it’s the rule of attraction. Others would say it’s God’s will. I don’t know how to define it yet, but I believe that I am here for a reason and some things happened to me for a reason. Just wish that those things are giving me the right direction to my life and to my destiny.

Do you believe in “Destiny”? I think I do.
(Is it a bit of stretch, connecting an untimely delivered email with destiny? Maybe… But not to me)
